In 1992 Paul Carling started selling steel from a yard in Norcross, GA with a forklift, a torch, and a dream.
There was no office, no warehouse, no phones (just a cell by his side), and no employees.
In 1996, Paul’s college roommate and close friend, Brian Satisky, became his partner.
Paul made deliveries in an old, beat up truck while Brian cut steel with an old torch and loaded up
customers with an even older forklift. Eventually, they hired their first employee in 1997,
a yard helper to free them up to make cold calls so they could drum up some more business.
They continued hiring employees, they bought equipment (saws, break, shear, punch, iron worker,
drills, burn table, etc.), and they moved into a warehouse. In 2004, they opened a second location
in Gainesville, GA. In 2006, they completed construction on their new, 20,000 square foot,
state of the art service center in Doraville, GA. They now have over 40 employees and 3 warehouses,
but they are staying true to the roots of the company.
